What is Life Is Cool?

The Life Is Cool program meets state approved curriculum standards for topics such as organs, tissues, blood, corneas, and the importance of healthy choices. This program was created with Kentucky and West Virginia students in mind, however it is appropriate for 3rd – 5th grade classrooms nationwide.

Previously, Life Is Cool was an in-person only program, that was loosely based off of a similar model created by Indiana Donor Network. We are so excited to be offering the new and improved Virtual Life Is Cool that is the first of its kind in the United States and can be utilized from anywhere!

We are offering this program as an open-source resource, which means all of this is provided at no cost to the school or student. The Life Is Cool activities will provide students with a memorable experience while teaching them the importance of organ donation.

After accessing the Life Is Cool website, students will be able to visit Ms. Vida in the Life Is Cool Lab via the included videos starring Leigh Pennington, MPH as Ms. Vida! Then they can complete the classroom lessons.

Teachers will be able to register their class without disclosing their student information and will have access to the resources housed here on the site as well. These resources include: a digital teaching manual complete with topics for discussion, handouts and support materials for the 10 teaching sessions, the videos that complete each lesson, and a gradebook so that you can keep track of your student’s progress.
